The Painter Mark Rothko takes on Ken as help in his atelier. He is preparing a series of paintings for a new restaurant in New York using is favourite colour red. Over the course of two years Ken learns more about art and philosophy and finally confronts Rothko more and more with his own understanding of colour and art and the relation with the outside world.
